Department. Melissa’s
own
healing path began when she was working as an environmentalist for
Greenpeace in her early 20's. Doing this work she realized that in order to truly heal the world, you must
first begin with yourself. From this point, she dove into studying all
she could about numerous holistic healing modalities. Soon thereafter she became a patient with a naturopathic doctor, healing a long-standing
illness she had from infancy. Through this process, she was transformed and healed not only physically, but also emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.
From this healing journey she experienced the deeper meaning of holistic
medicine, how all aspects of the self need to be addressed in order to
find true healing. Several months later, while living on the island of
Jamaica, a transformative experience gave her the vision and drive to
become not only a naturopathic doctor, but ultimately a modern day
medicine woman. Melissa believes that addressing all aspects of ourself in the healing journey helps us to embody ourselves at the deepest level, leads us to manifestation of true health and a discovery of what we are really here to do.
